Summer Camp in North Dakota

Late in July, Dave headed out to his new summer camp in North Dakota, so he's been there for about a month now. Fellow trainers Ray Dohse and Mike Mullineaux have joined Dave. Ray actually met up with Dave on the drive out there. Mike was waiting for his new live-in horse trailer to get finished, so he has just arrived.

When he first got out there, the temperatures were hovering near 100 degrees in the afternoon. Work with the dogs had to be done in the mornings and evenings. The heat wave didn't last for long, however. There were some days that Dave said he had to don a light jacket for a good part of the day.

This picture shows the vast expanse of the breakaway. A dog can really learn to range out here.

Grace Anne has dragged me into the 21st Century kicking and screaming. Twenty four hours ago I didn't even know what a Blog was.

I hope this keeps everyone interested up to date on my travels and bird dog activity.
